“Entra con CIE” is the identification scheme to access with the CIE online digital services of public administrations and private citizens, as provided by art. 64 of the Digital Administration Code.
“Entra con CIE” allows citizens with a CIE to authenticate to online services via:
- “Desktop” – access the service through a computer with a contactless smart card reader for CIE. To allow the operation it is necessary to first install “CIE Software“;
- “Mobile” – the user accesses the service through a smartphone equipped with an NFC reader and the “CieID” app for the CIE reading;
- “Desktop with smartphone” – access to the service via computer and a smartphone with NFC reader and the “CieID” app to read the CIE, instead of the contactless smart card reader.
For service providers willing to integrate the access through CIE is available an automated service of federation to the CIE digital identity of the Ministry of the Interior: CIE Services Federation Portal.
The CIE is a digital identity tool acknowledged at European level. In compliance with the eIDAS Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 910/2014), the CIE has been notified to the European Commission and other member states with the publication in the Official Journal of the European Union C 309 of September 13, 2019, and has been integrated with the eIDAS node.
